Total Time 15 minutes mins
- 1 5-oz can white albacore tuna in water
- 1/2 cup finely diced cooked chicken breast (no skin)
- 1/2 cup sweet potato purée
- 1 Tbsp rice flour (as needed)
- mashed potatoes for frosting (optional)
- catnip (optional)
Cook your sweet potato into the microwave, then mash it up and let it cool.
While your potato is cooking, open your tuna, drain the water, and add the tuna to a medium bowl. Flake it into tiny pieces.
Dice your cooked chicken and add to the bowl. I always have cooked chicken in my fridge, so it's an easy mix-in.
Stir in sweet potato purée a little at a time. You want it to hold together and not be soupy. You may not need the whole ½ cup.
If your sweet potato is a bit watery, sprinkle in rice flour 1 teaspoon at a time until the texture firms up.
Place a 1-inch round cookie cutter on a plate, spoon in your mix, and gently press it to the edges or just hand shape into patties.
For frosting, pipe mashed potatoes using a pastry bag or just dollop a bit on top (optional).
To save some for future feline treats, shape the mixture into 1-inch patties using your hands and place them on a lined baking sheet.
Freeze for about 1 hour until firm, then transfer the patties to a zip-top bag or airtight freezer-safe container. They’ll keep fresh for up to 3 months!
When party time rolls around, just thaw a patty in the fridge before serving it to your favorite little floof.
